I have good news and bad news...

The good news is that Senecca was admitted to BYU Hawaii.

The bad news is that Senecca was admitted to BYU Hawaii.

When she opened her acceptance letter and shrieked with joy at the good news, I did a little happy dance in the middle of the kitchen floor.

Then I did what any self respecting mother would do.

I locked myself in my bedroom and cried my eyes out for a couple of days.

What will I do without my funny girl?

Who will I laugh at with?

Who will I binge on ice cream with?

Who will sit in my studio and drink gallons of hot cocoa with me?

And then crash on the couch while I remain on a sugar high.

Listening to Abba.

Still jabbering in their ear.

At 2 a.m.

Who tolerates stuff like that?

My sweet Senecca.

That's who.

Honestly, I don't know if I can stand it.

Congratulations! And...I'm sorry. ;)

Your tears are a reflection of the relationship you've built. I hope I feel the same way when my girls reach that stage. The upside is you have a created/found a wonderful soul mate in your daughter...no matter where she is. :) Good job, mom! Should every mother be so blessed...

I know I'd make a poor substitute for the job but, yes, if you're taking applications I volunteer to keep ya company, Shell, only thing is I wanna do it there! Oh, how it brings back tearful memories of when my lil' chicks left the nest. Even tho you can't imagine it now, you'll somehow survive. Remember the best is yet to come! Here's a hug for both of you, it'll be hard for you too, huh Senecca!

Congratulations to her. Even though I am not at that point in my life, just by reading your post I feel that empty, weird pit in my stomach. You are such a cute mom.

What a sweet tender post . . . it hardly seems possible that you can be preparing to send your firstborn off to college . . . seems only yesterday you were the little one . . . thanks for sharing the feelings of your heart - you say it so well for all who have been there!
